People are stressed, depressed and living in a world of unrest. With the Internet of Things at their fingertips, there are those who say, “I’m bored!” They are working to creatively bide time until “things return to normal”, but who knows when that will be. And speaking of “normal”, what is the new normal going to look like? In a world filled with vices and other cheer-up tactics, there are still times when the road is rough, the hill is hard to climb and no amount of money thrown at the situation (in various forms) can change a negative to a positive.

As much as I love to write poetry and make fun entries to the blog, I also recognize that God gave me this forum to send positive messages filled with hope and encouragement. Today is one of those days.
If you have lost your merry, please stop and pray. There is hope. After you pray, read an encouraging scripture or two (or as many as needed). Some of my favorites are: Philippians 4:6-7; Matthew 6:25-34; Romans 8:28 and Jeremiah 29:11.
I would also encourage you to play music. There is an African Proverb that says, “Greet every obstacle with a smile and a song.” What’s on your playlist for times like these? I like to listen to: God Can (Alvin Slaughter); Optimistic (Sounds of Blackness); I Choose (India Arie); Go Get It (Mary Mary); Hold On (James Fortune); I Smile (Kirk Franklin); I Have to Believe (Rita Springer).
Finally, write a note of encouragement or gratitude to someone you love, respect, know or admire. The process of taking the time to write the note and sending it via “snail mail” will give you and instant lift and an anticipated one. Oh! Taste and see!
