After a streak of 35 consecutive posts, I missed a day! I was sitting at my desk, the computer in front of me, scrolling on my phone, playing pool (I won the Singapore Tournament) and watching Facebook videos. Although I had been sitting at the desk for more than 1.5 hours, I had not even thought about posting. Today, I just totally forgot . . . until 12:09am.
The funny thing is that my screen time kept being interrupted by text message reminders to watch Dave Chappelle host Saturday Night Live. At the end of one of the videos, I checked the time (11:44pm) and knew I had already missed the monologue, so I returned to the stream of endless opportunities to squander time. Once I was jolted from my scroll-induced coma and realized my failure, I decided to find a picture of a second place runner. The photo above was found by googling ‘Olympic finishes’. When I saw it I thought, “This is how I feel. Since my last slip, I have been relentless in creating a habit. I have kept it up for more than one month, and I am unstoppable. Nothing is going to detour me from my record. I am going all the way! Dive, Sister, dive!”
The problem was that this Cinderella “danced” one time too many, and had already missed her midnight ride. So, what did I do next? You guessed it! I googled more photos. The one I found next gave me the perspective I needed to continue feeling like a winner. You see, the first photo had me thinking the runner had not won, when in reality she had.

My lesson is simple. Having a perfect posting record is not what makes me a winner. Getting my perspective corrected to appreciate and celebrate my all-out effort is paramount to my blogging success! So, hand me my trophy and let me get on with it. There’s a winner in me!
