Sunrise, Sunset

Artistic portrait of English Bulldog at sunrise

The sun rises, and so do the dogs. They wake up wanting, at times – demanding, to be watered, fed and exercised. They are, after all, puppies, and like babies, they only think of their needs. Who could blame them?

At sunset, the same thing happens. They play. They eat and drink. They cuddle and get ready for bed.

What happens between sunrise and sunset? They look cute. They make me smile – even laugh, and they bring joy. Their lives are like medicine for my soul. The love of a dog is better than blood pressure pills, anti-depressants, sleep aids and other life-numbing drugs. Wine and spirits cannot compete with the buzz they share when their tails wag or come when you call. If one dog can do that, imagine what three five-month old puppies can do! Thoughts of them make me smile!

Did I mention they help with the laundry? It’s true! They have a knack for finding any socks left on the floor, and “pre-soak” them for me! What is it about dogs and socks?

If you have a dog, you already know the power of your special friend to turn your day around with one nudge. If you have never experienced the bliss, treat yourself and take the plunge!
