People who like to cook and bake, know that the picture shown above is one type of egg separator. To use it, you carefully crack the egg over the device – do not to break the yolk – and the egg white flows over the outer ring into the bowl below, leaving the separated egg for use in a recipe. I have used mine many times to achieve the desired outcome. Normally, when I use the term “egg separator”, this is the device to which I am referring. . . but not today.
Whenever one year ends and another begins, I look back over the year and evaluate my position. It is my time to accentuate the positives, and eliminate the negatives – in my attitudes, behaviors and relationships, both personally and professionally. As I move into the new year, I look back at the ways I spent my energy, vowing to keep the best and committing to work at making better and healthier choices.

This also applies to people. I want to rid my life of rotten eggs, and spend time with good eggs. I also want to be a good egg, and do the work on (and for) myself to be just that. I am praying for a spirit of discernment that I may know who the Lord would have as traveling partners for this leg of my journey, and the spirit of obedience to bid farewell to those not meant for this new season of life. In this way, the Lord is my egg separator. Being open to His direction is the wise and prudent thing to do. And, it’s biblical.
To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1
