Sharing snail-mail with one of my favorite people is a real treat!

Typically, a pen pal is someone you have not met, but correspond with by writing letters and sharing personal events. My pen pal, however, is someone I have known his entire life! We share the love of fine stationery and writing instruments (like fountain pens!). We also share similar interests, mindsets and challenges in staying true to our love of handwritten and typewriter expressions.
My pen pal and I use snail mail as a way to continue fostering our relationship, and to encourage each other in our creative endeavors. We bounce ideas off each other, seek and share advice and experiences, and learn from each other. We use other forms of communication – phone calls, text messages and emails – but NOTHING beats a note with a stamp!
Since, as they say, “Curiosity killed the cat!”, I will not keep you in suspense any longer and reveal my knight with shiny nib and free flowing ink . . . I am blessed to have my son, my first born, as my pen pal! It is wonderful to stay in touch. And as an bonus, he often tucks artwork and scribbles from my 2 year old grandson in the envelope. He is training him young, and I love it!
April is National Card and Letter Writing Month, and National Pen Pal Day is June 1st. I can only speak for myself when I say that I cannot wait to celebrate! I love going to the mailbox to see if I have received a card, and I know he does too, so I am planning to flood his mailbox with treats!
Happy Corresponding!
