My Sheep Know My Voice

While I am no Dr. Doolittle, I do talk to our dogs and the puppies in the litters. I call them by name, and carry on legitimate conversations with them. They cock their heads, wiggle their tales, stare at me and bark in response. We don’t speak the same language, but we have an understanding.

When I catch up with the new parents and check on a puppy’s progress, they often relay that the puppy is wagging their tail at the sound of my voice – even months after leaving my care! It gives me a special joy to know that they hear my voice and respond positively. Their response reminds me of John 10:27. It says:

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

I know how I feel when I get a response from the dogs, so I can only imagine how the Lord feel when we respond to Him and follow in obedience. Given our ability to exercise our free will, our positive response to Him must leave Him overjoyed! Today is the perfect day to hear, acknowledge and follow Him.
